Honesty time: before Adriane & Conor’s wedding, I had a lot of nerves. I was nervous about shooting at the Science Museum of Virginia. It’s notoriously a tough venue to shoot in because it’s a huge rotunda with a three story domed ceiling. (It’s also gorgeous!) Plus, I was nervous because I hadn’t met Adriane & Conor yet! We had one phone meeting before they hired me, and since they live in Chicago, we didn’t get to do an engagement session together. Y’all, it has been a LONG time since I’ve photographed a wedding without having done an engagement session first!
All I really knew was . . . Adriane and Conor hired my favorite band and my favorite planners AND my favorite lighting company. I thought, “This has to mean they’re basically the coolest, right?”
I was right. As soon as I walked into the AirBnB on Grove, Adriane greeted me with the biggest hug, and it felt like we were old friends. She and Conor are warm like that. If you spend time with them and their wonderful group of friends and family, you feel like one of them.
Together, Adriane and Conor prioritized the people and real, candid moments over all the little things. We were a perfect match in that regard. And so I took a bazillion photos of awesome, candid, laughter-filled, yacht rock infused, real moments. Here are a few (hundred) of my favorites. 🙂
Ade has the greatest smile, and you’re about to see a lot of it!!
Also . . . THIS DRESS. So classic.
Luckily, the rain held off and we had a gorgeous backyard spot for the First Look!
After some champagne toasting, we headed to the VMFA courtyard for more photos.
I had to include one of their adorable flower girl/niece. Wait until you see her walk down the aisle! 😉
I’m still pretty obsessed with their color palate. I love mixing and matching!
I know the girls are waiting to see this one. 😉
Ade, you are radiant!!
If you go to the VMFA, you have to shoot with the red reeds! It’s a Richmond rule. 🙂
She got a round of applause when she got to the end. It was the cutest!!
Adriane’s bridesmaid and friend, Beck, officiated, so the ceremony was beautifully personal and full of laughs.
Conor and Adriane chose some of the sweetest, most unique readings from Lord of the Rings and Little House in the Big Woods (an old favorite!).
The Science Museum is actually one of my new favorite places to shoot. 🙂
Since it was Derby Day, the tables were named after race horses!
I got to see one of my grooms, Andy, as the Lighting Professors were coming in to set up, so I knew it was going to be a good day. 😉
Three Sheets to the Wind learned their new first dance song, and it was perfect.
This might be my new favorite photo in the world.
After the cake was cut and gelato was being served (!!!), it was time for the party to START!
Here’s a sequence of one of my favorite dancer of the night!
I won’t say what happened to get these reactions, but the guests will know. 😉
As always, all good things come to an end! But I have a feeling the party kept going after these glowsticks were waved!
Ade & Conor,
Thank you for trusting a photographer that you never got to meet! I had such a blast with you and your friends, and I can’t wait to see what shenanigans you two get into next!!
