I’m not sure who was more excited for Carrie & Andrew’s wedding day in Orange, VA . . . me or them! I knew it was going to be a beautiful day out at the Jacobs family’s beautiful farm, and I knew that Carrie and Andrew were SO excited to get married.
The week before their wedding, Carrie, Andrew, Colby, Ashley, and I met at Tazza Kitchen here in Richmond to finalize some details. It was SUCH a great idea because Carrie and Andrew BOTH had surprises for each other that I got to hear about! (It’s ALWAYS a good idea to clue your photographer in on these things so we don’t miss it!)
I also got to see Andrew fall in love with Carrie all over again when she folded her pizza slice up like a Fruit Roll Up. He said, “What are you doing?!” She replied calmly, “I’m rolling it up so I can eat it without all the arugula falling off.” I thought he was going to make fun of her for this unique method of eating pizza, but no. There was nothing but admiration on his face. Andrew looked at me and very quietly said, “THAT is why I’m marrying her right there. It’s the little things.”
Those little things have made these two one of my favorite couples to photograph of all time. It’s not just because I’ve known Carrie since our gymnastics days! Seeing Andrew and Carrie interact gives new meaning to the “marry your best friend” cliche new meaning. They go from looking at one other like they’re the only two people in the world to swapping a secret handshake and picking on each other in the same three minutes.
They’re rarely serious, but they’re seriously in love.
And when you see how Andrew looks at her, you can tell he knows he’s the luckiest guy in the world.
So, on the most gorgeous almost-summer day in the history of Junes, we set out to make sure Andrew got Carrie-d away. 🙂 When I arrived at Carrie’s parents house, there were some seriously gorgeous details waiting!
I love these mix-and-match bridesmaids dresses!
Carrie’s brother, Whit, brought an oddly shaped and confusing gift from Andrew, but we’ll get to that in a minute!
Andrew’s letter explained that he was “in it for the long haul,” so now they’re ready . . . with canes. 🙂
Dad’s reactions were PRICELESS all day!
Before the fun bridesmaids reveal, the girls asked, “What kind of reactions are you looking for?” I told them not to worry — they would have one!
Such a beautiful group of girls!
If anyone out there remembers my very first blog post ever, Ashley here is KIND OF the whole reason I dove into wedding photography. 🙂 And she’s an excellent wedding planner for her friends and family!
Carrie, you are SO STUNNING.
After quick bridal portraits, I headed over to the ceremony to see Andrew! He was pretty pumped to be getting married.
This lovely piece of land in Orange, VA belongs to Carrie’s family. Funny enough, it is legitimately across the street from Robert’s house! At the end of the night, it was the fastest I’ve ever been able to post a sneak peek!
I loved seeing their engagement session canvas on display!!
Carrie & Andrew planted a tree with dirt from each of their childhood homes. It was so sweet!!
Joyful brides are the best brides. 🙂
Luck is on Carrie & Andrew’s side: her grandpa found a four leaf clover for her!
This light at this farm though . . . I could shoot there every weekend and never get tired of that golden glow!
The two families did an AMAZING job of decorating the reception! I was obsessed with all the cute signs. Y’all know I love Fitzgerald. 😉
Carrie & Andrew’s friend and DJ, Chris, played a special song for the father/daughter dance.
Carrie & her dad invited all the father/daughters to join their dance, and there were some pretty special duos on the floor. 🙂
During dinner, we snuck back up the hill to take advantage of the mountain views of Orange, VA.
“They call this God’s country,” Mr. Jacobs said. The reasons are obvious.
I believe that burying bourbon is ALWAYS a good idea!
Andrew surprised Carrie by planning a special tribute to his late grandfather. HE IS SUCH A KEEPER.
And just like that, the new Mr. & Mrs. Cheatham were off to Belize.
